Congratulations to the Dayton Amateur Radio Association for a very successful Hamvention 2017!

This year, Hamvention was moved to the Green County Fairgrounds & Expo Center as the Hara Arena was closed and is being torn down. The great folks at DARA worked really hard to find a new venue for Hamvention and by all accounts, they pulled off a really great event for 2017.

The Green County Fairgrounds & Expo Center

The Dayton Amateur Radio Association has been conducting the annual Hamvention since 1952 and in 1964 the event was moved to the Hara Arena.

Hamvention is one of the biggest and best events in the amateur radio realm and if you have yet to attend, well the new venue is a great reason to plan to attend in 2018.

What do you think?

The 2017 Dayton Hamvention in Xenia Ohio is a keeper… I volunteered with the Flea Market committee, and we worked hard preparing the field areas for the 562 outside vendors…I felt sorry for people who were not in attendence, they missed witnessing history in the making, and the monumental, well organized event, enters in the books as a brilliant success !

With out a doubt, the Forum Rooms were far superior to the rooms at Hara… I mean, full A/C and complete ventilation, very confortable… The busy restrooms had people posted constantly for cleaning and resupply…The food variety offered by numerous food trucks tasted wonderful… Traffic on Friday morning was the most obvious problem, but certain points were readjusted and traffic flowed smoothly… For all you Hara Arena haters, it is safe to plan travelling to Hamvention 2018… At this time, I do not know the exact attendence figures, but I will be back for the 2018 edition for sure !!
