4O3A Gear Antennas

Our 4O3A band pass filters and triplexers are loaded. Our compliment of antennas.

Each Dxpedition has various phases or stage gates of success or failure. Each Dxpedition that I have been involved with has periods of joy and excitement and periods of impending doom or failure.

Today is one of the special days for the VP8STI/VP8SGI Team, it is our shipping day. For months now, we have been gathering gear and equipment at my home and assembling and testing each item.

Bins Cases

3000′ of LMR400 Coax.

Everything has been packed for the long voyage to New Zealand and then onto Stanley, The Falkland Islands. Our Carnet has been prepared and authorized and our packing list has been checked and re-checked. I estimate that we are shipping 4-5 tons of equipment.

Our Logistics Company has picked up our load and will place the contents into one of their ocean containers for the 48 day transit to New Zealand. From there, the Braveheart crew will bring our contents to the Falkland Islands where they will meet us in January.

Complete Shipment Into Truck

Our shipment will travel to New Zealand in an Ocean container.

Out_house Pelicans

This tent will be our “out house”.  Elecraft gear in the water tight Pelican cases.

Let the Voyage begin!

I am just getting to the point where I understand how exciting it is to get ready to start packing a container and seeing it off and “en route”. I can only imagine how excited your team is that its no longer a plan – but a reality – you guys are essentially “under way”.

I wish you and your team all the best, and will be very excited and happy to work you guys at South Sandwich. I will double my donation and see if I can help drum up some more support in this same way from everyone I know and come in contact with.
