FT-897

It’s been reported today that Yaesu plans to discontinue production of the venerable FT-897 radio. This is a “nifty” radio that is like a Swiss Army knife of radios. While I have not owned one of these rigs, they are quite popular and easy to use. It can even be run on its own battery power. Sadly, I also learned at the Dayton Hamvention that the equally venerable and quite popular ICOM IC-7000 is also being discontinued. No word on any replacement radios for these two fun radios.
