I’ve just returned from two weeks in Myanmar.

Oh My!  What an interesting place!

Myanmar is full of many contrasts. From the frenetic pace of life in the former capitol of Yangon

to the sleepy backwater countryside of farms and villages. Myanmar, formerly known as Burma has just ended 50 years of military rule. Its opening to commerce and tourists.

I visited Myanmar as part of an Amateur Radio delegation to demonstrate “ham radio” to the Myanmar Government. I was awestruck by the friendliness and happy spirit of the Myanmar people. They are amazingly warm and gentle. No one begs, demands or asks you for anything. Every situation is greeted with a smile.

Myanmar is rich is natural resources such as precious stones, oil and natural gas. Myanmar will quickly become a hot tourist destination. Lets hope that they can retain their uniqueness and kind spirit as the world embraces them.
